
The Madeira Centennial Race Committee is pleased to announce the first-ever bike race held in the heart of Madeira: The Madeira Centennial Criterium, Friday, June 25th 2010. All categories of criterium racers will be competing from 5pm – 9:30pm. Complete with music, food, beer tent, and kids events. Pro cyclists will battle for the $5500 cash purse. Fun for all!
The Madeira Centennial Criterium is set to kick off the Hyde Park Blast / Tour de Grandview / USA Crits weekend. Already some early press from Velonews!
COURSE: The 1 mile course dives in and out of the local streets that make up the central Madeira business district. Start on Miami across from PNC Bank, straight until the 180 by Coffee Please, right on Railroad, left on Laurel, then the final right on Miami and 175 meters to the finish at PNC Bank. Two wide 180 degree turns are featured at either end of the 1 mile circuit.
Pre-registration is encouraged and can be completed here on BikeReg, or at BioWheels in Madeira. Registration on race day is available
or an additional $10. Race day registration closed 30 minutes prior to posted start times. Staging for events will be done by order of registration.

Festival!
The excitement of bicycle racing and its tightly packed action will be complemented by food vendors, including barbecued pork and ribs, pizza, and burgers, brats and metts served by the Madeira Athletic Boosters, along with the offerings of the local restaurants, including Coffee Please who will be selling Jeni’s Ice Cream from a street-side cart. Beer and wine will be served by the Madeira Music Boosters who will operate multiple beer and wine booths. A Children’s area tops off the offerings of the event, with crafts, toys, face painting and much more to keep your kids entertained. Music will be piped throughout the race course and an announcer will keep fans connected to the action as each race progresses. Several seating areas will be provided or bring your own chair to watch the action in comfort.
An area for children’s activities will be set up at the corner of Laurel Ave and Center Rd, by Laurel House. Participating businesses will be Creativities, Ted’s Toys, Mad Potter and Tri-State Orthopedic Products. Trikke carving bikes will be demo’d by Tri-State.
