Bike Butler (aka- Springhill Winery) hosted their annual “Mud, Sweat and Gears” event. For 1999, they have improved their course dramatically. Trailworkers added a great new section on the Rocky Mtn. Trail / Expert Loop, and improved many other areas of the course. It is still the most abusive course in the region, in a good way. It is hard to find recovery amidst the constantly changing grade of the root-laden trail.
BWR’s JR Geiger broke his saddle on the first lap, spending the rest of the race cheering on his 3 remaining teammates. After a weak start, BWR’s Johnson pushed near the top-five, only to fade in his last lap. He finished 3rd in Vet X. Ginther and Humbert both finished the race.
Thanks to Bike Butler’s Richard and Cathy Matthews for a decade of excellence!
